After starting her independent career, she has completed three government funded research projects in the role of principal investigator. She has 26 international publications including a Chemical Review article to her credit. Eight students have submitted their M. Phil. dissertations and three students are working for their Ph. D. under her guidance. Her research interests include synthesis of organic molecules (by new strategies) possessing bioactive or photoactive properties, chemosensors, isolation and synthetic modification of natural products and cheminformatics. She is based at Trivendrum, India.

Dr. Shatarupa (PhD in Biochemistry) is currently an Institute Post-Doctoral Fellow at IIT Bombay, India. She is studying the effects of mechanical cues on cell behaviour and cancer progression. She obtained her PhD from The City University Of New York in 2014. Her study was evaluating the mechanism that drives enhanced migration in breast cancer cells. Before joining IIT Bombay as a researcher, she was a visiting faculty at the Department of Biological Sciences, SDSOS (2014 –18) and UM-DAE CEBS, University of Mumbai, Kalina Campus (2015-19) where she taught courses in metabolism, genetics, biotechnology, cancer biology, environmental science and designed a new course on bioimaging at UM-DAE CEBS. She had also taught 3 different undergraduate-level laboratory-based courses over 9 semesters during her PhD studies. She is specialised in cancer biology, microtubule dynamics, imaging techniques and analysis, biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, and teaching at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
